Direct descendant and genealogy researcher Craig Kanalley established a link between William Moore, born in 1794 in Nova Scotia and moved to Kingston (modern-day Ontario), as a descendant of the Moore family of New Kent Co., Virginia through DNA testing.
A direct male line descendant of William's brother Thomas Moore matches the New Kent Co. Moores through Big Y-DNA at FamilyTreeDNA, and William and Thomas descendants also match the Virginia descendants on autosomal DNA.
William and Thomas are sons of Frederick Moore, son of a James Moore who came to Halifax, Nova Scotia from North Carolina after the Revolutionary War.
Per the DNA research, coupled with traditional records, James' father Augustine (or Austin) Moore was the son of Thomas Moore and Elizabeth Elmore of St. Peter's Parish, New Kent.
